Am I really that fast?!
In the Event-based Lunar OPtical flow Egomotion estimation (ELOPE) challenge, we’re asking you to do something that no one dared to do before: bring a lunar landing safely down to the surface by using nothing but a stream of spurious pixel events. In ELOPE, our simulated event camera shows you the mysterious, dangerous and still largely undsicovered region of the Moon’s South Pole like it was never shown before.
No GPS. No breadcrumbs. Just raw event data and your brain. Can you reconstruct the lander’s missing trajectory data and help it stick the landing?
Oh, and in the spirit of cosmic generosity: submissions from Planet Earth enjoy free scoring. That’s right — zero lunar tariffs.
Ready to shoot for the Moon? ELOPE with us! Check out the problem description, the dataset and the starter-kit.
This competition is organized by ESA's Advanced Concepts Team (ACT) in partnership with University of Adelaide and TU Delft.
